I know, I know, I have written about this before and you may have already read about the program Build A Niche Store, but here I want to show some examples of what you can accomplish with this program. If you are going to do anything on the web with Marketing, Sales, Blogging (self hosted) eventually you will need a web host. Over the past year or two I have tried several different hosts with a variety of plans and I can tell you all web hosts are NOT created equal. 

If you have done your fair share of searching, talking to friends, researching plans etc... you will already know there are hundreds of variables to consider. Some hosts will throw in a domain name registration or offer to move your site from your current host or add on unlimited MySql Databases or any number of come on's. The bottom line at the end of the day is WILL THEIR SERVERS WORK?

I know this sounds like it should be a given. I signed up with several rather popular web hosts who were offering a fantastic deal on shared server space. Now I know it would be nice to have a virtual server but at the time I really didnt think I could make use of it. I dont need a race car to drive to 7-11. I just need a reliable host with minimal services, however I do EXPECT the damm service to work.

After severeal calls to tech support (another whole story altogether) and a few weeks of configuration trial and error, I finally came to the conclusion they all SUCKED! The moral to this whole post is no matter how good the deal looks, if the service stinks or tech support is non existent its all a moot point.

If you want to save yourself a LOT of wasted time then I suggest start your research with Hostgator. They have their service and tech support way ahead of the others and for the money its a great deal. I have over a dozen domains and sub domains hosted on one account and have not had one instance of downtime in the three months I have been their customer. The few times I had to use tech support my calls were answered in under two minutes and yes, I got a live person who actually walked me through the steps to fix my problem.

Save yourself a lot of wasted time and at least consider hostgator for all your web hosting. BTW if you have a "Build A Niche Store" script you want to run, hostgator is the defacto standard. The three other web hosts I tried (I wont name them here) all had trouble configuring my service to enable me to run BANS. Ask anyone who runs a BANS site and I would bet you will find over half go with hostgator. At least check them out before you sign up for a year with a host that cant run the software you need........... like I did.
